Imagine a world where you never ran out of fuel. While this might seem a long way off to those of us tired of gas station queues, Rinker Materials Florida operations are getting close - with a new automated fuel management system.
This new system will improve fuel reconciliation, goods issue and engine hour data collection. Due to automated data collection, the new system will not only free up personnel, it will guarantee a more accurate fuel usage report. Our fleets can now operate more efficiently and effectively.
“Our ability to maintain and manage adequate inventories will also be enhanced thanks to this system,” says special projects coordinator Rick Eifler. “In the current climate of rapidly moving fuel prices, accurate inventories are especially important.”
So far 47 systems have been installed.
Finding talented people to join our high performance teams can sometimes be a challenge. At Rinker Materials, finding talented college students to become management trainees has proven a successful option.
The school year starts with a bang for graduating seniors. A few weeks into the first semester, universities hold a career fair for students and employers. The Florida Materials, Quarries East, Cement and Concrete Pipe divisions of Rinker Materials all participate in these career fairs, sending a college recruiting team to find potential candidates.
After the fair, recruiting teams hold interviews with pre-selected students and if short-listed, they are asked to attend another interview in West Palm Beach, Florida with appropriate managers. If chosen, successful candidates will graduate in December and start their new position in January.
“Rinker looks for potential recruits to hold academic majors in business, management, marketing, civil engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering and mining engineering,” says Michele Easterday, training/recruiting coordinator. “We have had a lot of success with the management trainee program and hope that it will continue to provide us with talented future management.”
Universities where Rinker Materials currently recruits students include Florida International University, University of Central Florida, Florida State University, University of Florida, Georgia Tech, Middle Tennessee State and University of Missouri-Rolla.
Rinker Materials’ college recruiting team consists of current management trainees and human resource representatives: Alan MacVicar, Chad McCarl, Tyler Berry and Michele Easterday.
Rinker also hires graduates from other schools. If someone in your family is interested in being a management trainee contact: at Michele Easterday.
